This set of recent paintings is a combination of abstract works based primarily on landscapes, weathered surfaces, mark making, artifacts, and collage elements. I typical set out with a vague concept for a painting, and then continually listen to the direction that the work wants to go. By holding on loosely to an idea or directional preference, unexpected results happen. This spontaneity keeps the creative process interesting and ever-evolving.
